New Week

Blah, just had an organic chem exam and anatomy post-exam slaughter me to bits this morning, with a physics mini-quiz squeeze in between (which I got a D- on, hooray.) Thankfully I got an A on my research paper for Cultural Heritage on how deforestation and plague ended up ruining Ancient Rome at the end. :) Now I have physics homework to do, due tonight at 11.....

Yeah the weekend was horrible, but I got to see the play version of Arsenic and Old Lace put on my college. For a small college, (1500 people or so) we have some pretty good actors! Of course, the show's a classic (I loved the movie,) so it was great to see it done justice on stage. The ending was different from the movie, something I didn't expect (but was laughing at nonetheless.) Overall, nicely done.

Last year I wrote movie reviews for my school article, tried to keep them themed for the months. Unfortunately my school newspaper published about a few months late, which threw off the themes and kinda annoyed me...but I know that my fellow students are swamped with stuff as well (and as a first year, that was the easiest year ever so....) Fight Clu was the first movie I reviewed. I think it was Cool Hand Luke when Paul Newman died (made me a fan, wish I knew him before.) And...I forget what else.

Well, for the next two months of family holidays, I'm guessing.....Godfather II!! Hee hee, one of my top favorites, and I just watched it again last month, too. (Venture Bros. last night spoofed my favorite scene ever from the Godfather movies, it made me cry tears of laughter and sadness, 'cause I won't be able to watch that scene without thinking of the VB version...AUGH!!)

I think it's the fall of our tragic hero (Michael Corleone) that really made the movie special, and how the juxtaposition of him and Vito showing the contrast of their priorities (Vito prioritized family/paisan a lot more then MIchael did....then Mikey lost his family 'cause of that.)

So awesome, though, the movie.

Oh, speaking of Venture Bros....I just love it, the characters are so retarded but hilarious. I've only seen a handful of episodes, anything that's on Adult Swim, anyway...but I have this theory that Dr. Venture and The Monarch are related, like maybe brothers or something. It'd be perfect!! The even look the same and are voiced by the same guy....I swear. (I think there's sometimes a scene shown of them in the womb, and Monarch trying to strangle Venture??) I haven't unearthed any similar theories, but it'd be amazing.

'Cause like the creators of the show said, the show's ultimately about failure. (Spectacular fails, at that.) Dr. Venture fails at being a dad to his kids, which hank and Dean know, even for being stupid kids...(Monarch ends up being even more paternal then Venture, haha.)

The thing that gets me, though, is that last night's ep had a scene where Monarch, while even being accidentally stuck in a too-small sidekick outfit, managaed to Hannibal Lecture a character, and was being SUPER BADASS about it!! It was amazing! Monarch was actually being villainy for once! (Without Dr. Mrs. The Monarch's help, too.) The burn upon burn as he kept taunting Cptn Sunshine, his menacing advance, the crazy look in his face after getting sunburnt....I always thought he was pretty cool (and for being scrawny, shirtless he was fine too...for a cartoon character. :) ) Maybe desperation drove him to badassness.
(I just realized maybe his facial hair might be why I like him...since I'm kinda partial to facial hair, haha. That, or his lame but laudable attempts to be a villain. :D )

Of course, he had to ruin his moment by, after identifying Sunshine's weakness (his power doesn't work at night,) Monarch whips out a sun-ray blaster. Really?? I think that subversion of Monarch's badassness was a bit too heavy-handed ( I mean, he mentioned DMTM helped him build the ray gun...she should be able to sort out weakness and strength too, right? Being the smarter one of the couple....then again, everyone in the series is pretty stupid.)

HAHA well, yes epic fail follows since Monarch pretty much empowers Captain Sunshine with the rays....facepalms galore, but man, I was soo rooting for Monarch before that. :) His antennae eyebrows help, too...

Oh yeah, and the creeper/pedophile vibe from Captain Sunshine was hilarious, HAHAHA (especially coming from the Voice of Batman Himself). Monarch pointing that out to Sunshine during his epic monologue I think made his moment even more amazing.

Well, enough gushing about people who don't exist....time to confront things that do. Like Physics homework.

Hm

It's Friday in 24 more minutes!

Lots to do, exams to study for, proposals to write....my head at the moment feels like it's going to explode.

I found the Making Of video for Rammstein's vid, must I say the band are in tip-top shape. :) Christoph close up looks very nice in the eyeliner, the long hair is interesting....:) I couldn't get enough of the black leather in their video costumes, though, very nice.

I'll talk more about the band members later, haha. Better go regenerate.

Last one?

Okay okay I bet this is the last entry because nothing interesting will happen during the school week, at least, I think so...

So in the last entry I expressed my desire (yes) to see cute Vietnamese boys at the Mass....wow, God's just trying to motivate me to study, huh?? The craziest coincedence happened, woooow.
(All will be clear soon.)

Okay, this requires some backstory. Like probably last month I was getting a movie from the library with Dana and Ann, and since I usually do the checking out and stuff I approach the desk to give the person the movie and my card.

And wow, that person was cy-ute! He was an Asian guy with pretty eyes and delicate features, not too feminine but very cute. (And taller then me...lean, nice.) I got to see him twice there, and then I noticed him in the cafeteria and read his name on his backpack. I laughed to myself, since his first name, when said differently, mean's "Ant," my little cousin's nickname! And they have the same last name (due to the Nguyen deal back in Vietnam....) I even told my aunt, my cousin's mother, and she warned me not to call him Ant to his face, haha I told I wouldn't dare...'course I found his page on facebook and agree he looks pretty in pictures as well. :) (Not stalkerish at ALL....)

Well, fast forward to this morning where I find out I'm going to the Vietnamese children's Mass, where my aunt is overseeing the thing....We sit in the back, thankfully. Funnily enough, all the teens are sitting back there, I'm being silly and myself and we plop down. Then I notice the guy in front of looking familiar, when I walked past him that is. A few head-turns later and I think he's from my school.

Later after Mass I ask him, and yeah, he is. Yikes! The craziness!! Of all Vietnamese parishes, and of all the seats in that room, yeah, I sit behind the guy who goes to my school and is the most decent-looking Vietnamese guy I've seen yet.

He's a fourth year (I must have had an impressed look 'cause he brushed it off saying it doesn't mean anything,) and even crAZIER is that my aunt knows of him and his family as well (His other brothers are engineers and eye doctors...wow). I think the genes are ever-present, because his older sister (just graduated from pharmacy) came by to fetch him and she was very pretty as well. Her air of maturity really showed, compared to the flirty teen Viet girls there (haha they made me laugh though. Yeah when the Father was asking questions they were trying to sabotage it, pretty funny....but I felt bad for him. )

And yes now friending him on Facebook wasn't so creepy 'cause now we've really met face to face. I dunno what's going to become of this, I mean, being friends would be cool but that brings up another aspect this morning's experience showed me....

See, (yes, as you can see in my facebook pictures as well,) I have about 2 Vietnamese friends, and that's it (one's my 2nd cousin, so kinda counts.) I've never had the "Vietnamese-community" thing going on, and from this morning it looks fun. Just hanging out with people of your own heritage who totally understand what family life is like....It would be nice, to complain about parental pressures with someone who really understands.

But there's a reason why I haven't been in such an experience...my mom. She knows of Vietnamese women's catty-ness and amazing ability to gossip. I talked to her last night for a while, and yeah we agree her family is pretty silly, believing someone's word over her own, their daughter/sister. I mean, seriously, what gives? It all stems from assumptions and gossip....makes it worse that it's in her own family. :( But yeah....man, Viet gossip is crazy!! I hate it so much...so yeah, I guess my mom didn't want to deal with it and doesn't associate with the Viets in our area.

Now for Bac Hau (my aunt), I guess she's okay with it 'cause she wants to help the kids in their Cathechism (learning about the Catholic faith.) I agree, it's pretty important in Catholicism, 'cause then it helps answer the questions that start popping up as a kid. I wish "American" parishes did that more often, more in-depth anyway...maybe not enough kids? (At least in mine.)

But yes, I did snigger at my aunt a lot during Mass....no crying this time, 'cause i was busy staring at the back of the guy's head trying to make sure I knew him. Oh, and yes, I did mention the "ant" thing, haha...

WELL, this was a pleasant study break....some last cramming and we'll call it a day.

Oh yeah, Rammstein stuff...okay i dunno if it's still there but the National Geo pic of the day thing on my side bar shows an ice ship or something with EPIC ice/snow swirls around it--wait for it--Almost like the cover of Rosenrot, the prevoius Rammstein album! Whaaat?? Coincedences today are craazy...

Here it is just in case it disappears: http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/enlarge/icebreaker-antarctic-swithinbank.html

Epic.

**Edit** YES, it IS on the rosenrot cover! Wow, I even impress myself with this random Rammstein hardcore-fan stuff....Yeah I check up on Wiki, it's the USS Atka, which, yes, is on the NatGeo POD. Wow. I should stop getting so surprised today....
****

Andd yeah, i listened to the album on youtube and boy Liebe Ist fur Alle Da is awesome. Awesome enough to buy? Ha, yes. But I"ll have to buy it on my own, dunno what my dad will think about a song called "pussy" (and yes, listening to it on its own without being distracted by the video makes it better...good stuff.) One of the songs had Till's voice soaring, it gave me goosebumps (when I read the lyrics translation it was even better.)

OKAY that's enough, time to go.

Another one?? :)

Wow, two posts in one day that's a rarity. But I have news to share and stuff to squeal about (I'm calling my best friend 300 miles away to spaz to her tomorrow...)

Well, I JUST found out Rammstein's new album is coming out in the US in three days. I am VERY excited. However, they made a video of their first single called "Pussy" and....yeah. The video is just one big porno. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, I mean, it was funny until they whipped their dicks out (I don't even know if they're real. Richard said the sex was real but didn't comment if the cocks were, haha, soo....) I mean, I was pretty thrilled to see them in top form (literally,) but it was kind of a clash of feelings because it was so over the top that it was a turn off as well. I think that's their point, though, highlighting how ridiculous sex has become in films and what not. :) or they were just having fun.

I did catch myself headbanging when the band wasn't banging chicks, haha it's a pretty good tune. I'm SO excited to hear their stuff, omgomgomg I get so carried away with the monstrous, fierce riffs the band pump out. !!!! Now i'm wondering what I would pick, Depeche Mode's Dave's wiggling hips/Martin's angelic voice over Till's voice/Richard being hot/Chris banging away drums/etc.....I mean, both bands ooze sexy in their songs, presentation...I guess it's just gonna have to depend on the mood I'm in. I can't decide!!

So when I go out to buy my cds WHENEVER, Sounds of the Universe and Liebe ist fur alle da are dropping in.

Trance albums I want also include Oceanlab: Sirens of the Sea, Tiesto's Elements of Life, and...I think ATB seven years. Maybe. There was one other but I forgot.....

Okay, studying is over but time for some really bad Bleach and an ep of Mad men.

PS I also was gonna be lazy and ditch church tomorrow, but I think some spiritual thoughts could help center my studying tomorrow. It's also a Vietnamese Mass, hee maybe some cute Vietnamese guys. Somehow the mournful-sounding Viet songs during Mass make me cry, so hopefully no tearing for me. I might laugh, since my aunt is speaking the responsorial psalm, haha I love to snigger at her.

Weekend Tidbit

Mwaaaah, anatomy exam Monday, and lots of organic chem to catch up with, uggghh....of course, that won't stop me. :)

I got my results back from that hell week, gee golly jeepers I'm passing organic chem? Who knew! Not so sure about anatomy, I got the points I thought I'd need to pass lab, but I'm a few points short, ugh not again.....

In 1.5 days we'll be tested on the stupid nervous system...!!! So much to know. Currently working on neuroglia, dammit....haha, grumbling aside, this second half of anatomy should be easier, eh, no more failing practicums for me.

I recently joined the Depeche Mode forum to post my thoughts on their new video 'hole to feed,' which is really gross but made a point about the song. There are some people who just "I DON'T LIKE IT" and that's it, I was hoping for more detail but I guess the people didn't feel like writing it out....

Also, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan's blog is really interesting, he just wrote this response letter to a journalist who placed a sting camera in the room during an interview, bwahaha that was a great letter. He's got really good English, and some of the burns were just phenomenal.

"If you were to look me straight in the eye and challenge me, I would not hesitate to look you straight back and justify. Put this cap of self righteous zeal over your own head and then come riding with me. I’ll whip your horse and you mine and lets see who rides the furthest and the longest."

HAHAHAh that was aaweesome. The greatest thing is, the guy has a really deep voice and eyes that can go menacing in an instant....being old (67 on Ms. Conway's birthday) helps too, really majestic like. I'd pay to hear him say this to the guy's face. Maybe he'd get mad and yell! Haha, epic.

Also really want to get the Depeche Mode album, booo hoooooo....I saw that "Corrupt" was used for the True Blood finale....looks like a sexy show for such a sexy song, yuummy...However, I'll stick to my Mad Men, thanks very much (I haven't seen an ep in weeks, shoot.)

"I could corrupt you
It will be easy
Watching you suffer
Girl, it will please me

I wanna touch you
With my little finger
I know it will crush you
My memory would linger"

BWAAA martin that is so sexy and Dave....seriously, croon some more and I'm going to die ( I can't believe how many faces melted at those concerts....snaky hips indeed!)

Psych fall season finale yesterday was amazing, just to have Henry around to help save Shawn was great. What did it for me was Shawn's badassness when he fired the gun at the truck, with his left shoulder shot through. It was pretty sweet. The Reservoir Dogs reference made me giggle, I love that movie. :) :)

Ann and I think White Collar looks interesting, let alone the protagonist is a real cutie. :) I'll give it 3 eps, see what it's got....

Okay, gotta study.

Whew

Hell week is over, and the time I spent with my sister and dad was sooo worth it. I got my sister to watch Kal Ho Naa Ho, it seems cheesier the second time watching...but it got to my sister, she was crying a lot afterwards, just like I was the first time...:) Oh Shahrukh, you never fail us.

But I had to say goodbye to my family again as they left for home, now I'm back to studying.

Yesterday was my piano teacher's birthday, I was at my aunt's house and I played all my old pieces that I left there. It really brought back memories...I didn't know I started learning from her since '99!! I mean, I knew it was when I was in 4th grade, but geez....

Well, I got my organic chem exam grade, I didn't fail the exam and I am barely passing the class. :) Not so sure I did well on Anatomy, though...sucks. :(

I also have to study for a physics test this week. And write a research paper. :(

Also, I found out Armin van Buuren was just in Chicago this last friday. :( So this is the third DJ I've missed....ATB when seeing FLogging mOlly, then Paul Van Dyk, THEN AVb???!!I'm soooooo maaaad.....oh well. (Plus depeche mode tours....ugh.)

I passed my classes.....guess that's something. :/

Well, on to studying...and maybe Sims!!!

Hell Week

So tomorrow is my second organic chem exam, followed by the anatomy practicum on Thursday.....we'll be testing EVERYTHING from the last five weeks or so, 100 questions or more, really big....:( I have so much to do...

What's getting me through this all is the two days off we this weekend, called Fall Break.I got my dad and sister coming down here to visit me, so that's motivating me. :) I told him to get from netflix Kal Ho Naa Ho, a cute movie and my first "Bollywood" movie with SRK. It was pleasant, and I thought pretty nice. I'm not into chick flicks much, let alone romantic movies, but I only watched it 'cause of SRK....he was really funny and sweet in it, I don't know how I'll handle him being serious like in Devdas or whatever.

So yeah, can't wait to watch it with my sister. I told her I cried a lot in the movie, because there was a lot of emphasis on mothers in it, and I know from personal experience how much sacrifice a mother goes through, seeing as how mine has done so much for me. those moments in movies really get to me, so maybe it's a personal thing...

Well, enough of that! I have to go re-learn cat muscles and whatnot, seeing as how I almost failed the lab quiz for the cat muscles. :( And I really did fail the Organic Chem exam, so let's hope for a good one tomorrow.

I really have to credit my great friends here, though. They are great emotional support, in that I can be myself around them and goof off. We indulged in some gossip today, it was really funny 'cause we all thought the same things about the other "friends" we have here at the college. They also know I struggle here at the college, so their help is always appreciated.

One more awesome thing that popped up recently is--Amitabh Bachchan's blog!! I am just astounded at how I am able to read the thoughts of the most successful/Big actor in Bollywood....it's like reading Dustin Hoffman's blog (which I'd PAY for....:) :) )

And Amitabh is very handsome for a 66-year old...toupee or not, his baritone voice is amazing. He certainly acts/looks like a king, doesn't he? Statuesque and regal, haha. And his philosophical thoughts are quite interesting to read, actually. It's nice to hear about bollywood and India from an insider's point of view.

Well, now i REALLY have to go. Later...
