Yeah the weekend was horrible, but I got to see the play version of Arsenic and Old Lace put on my college. For a small college, (1500 people or so) we have some pretty good actors! Of course, the show's a classic (I loved the movie,) so it was great to see it done justice on stage. The ending was different from the movie, something I didn't expect (but was laughing at nonetheless.) Overall, nicely done.
Last year I wrote movie reviews for my school article, tried to keep them themed for the months. Unfortunately my school newspaper published about a few months late, which threw off the themes and kinda annoyed me...but I know that my fellow students are swamped with stuff as well (and as a first year, that was the easiest year ever so....) Fight Clu was the first movie I reviewed. I think it was Cool Hand Luke when Paul Newman died (made me a fan, wish I knew him before.) And...I forget what else.
Well, for the next two months of family holidays, I'm guessing.....Godfather II!! Hee hee, one of my top favorites, and I just watched it again last month, too. (Venture Bros. last night spoofed my favorite scene ever from the Godfather movies, it made me cry tears of laughter and sadness, 'cause I won't be able to watch that scene without thinking of the VB version...AUGH!!)
I think it's the fall of our tragic hero (Michael Corleone) that really made the movie special, and how the juxtaposition of him and Vito showing the contrast of their priorities (Vito prioritized family/paisan a lot more then MIchael did....then Mikey lost his family 'cause of that.)
So awesome, though, the movie.
Oh, speaking of Venture Bros....I just love it, the characters are so retarded but hilarious. I've only seen a handful of episodes, anything that's on Adult Swim, anyway...but I have this theory that Dr. Venture and The Monarch are related, like maybe brothers or something. It'd be perfect!! The even look the same and are voiced by the same guy....I swear. (I think there's sometimes a scene shown of them in the womb, and Monarch trying to strangle Venture??) I haven't unearthed any similar theories, but it'd be amazing.
'Cause like the creators of the show said, the show's ultimately about failure. (Spectacular fails, at that.) Dr. Venture fails at being a dad to his kids, which hank and Dean know, even for being stupid kids...(Monarch ends up being even more paternal then Venture, haha.)
The thing that gets me, though, is that last night's ep had a scene where Monarch, while even being accidentally stuck in a too-small sidekick outfit, managaed to Hannibal Lecture a character, and was being SUPER BADASS about it!! It was amazing! Monarch was actually being villainy for once! (Without Dr. Mrs. The Monarch's help, too.) The burn upon burn as he kept taunting Cptn Sunshine, his menacing advance, the crazy look in his face after getting sunburnt....I always thought he was pretty cool (and for being scrawny, shirtless he was fine too...for a cartoon character. :) ) Maybe desperation drove him to badassness.

Of course, he had to ruin his moment by, after identifying Sunshine's weakness (his power doesn't work at night,) Monarch whips out a sun-ray blaster. Really?? I think that subversion of Monarch's badassness was a bit too heavy-handed ( I mean, he mentioned DMTM helped him build the ray gun...she should be able to sort out weakness and strength too, right? Being the smarter one of the couple....then again, everyone in the series is pretty stupid.)
HAHA well, yes epic fail follows since Monarch pretty much empowers Captain Sunshine with the rays....facepalms galore, but man, I was soo rooting for Monarch before that. :) His antennae eyebrows help, too...
Oh yeah, and the creeper/pedophile vibe from Captain Sunshine was hilarious, HAHAHA (especially coming from the Voice of Batman Himself). Monarch pointing that out to Sunshine during his epic monologue I think made his moment even more amazing.
Well, enough gushing about people who don't exist....time to confront things that do. Like Physics homework.
